Our Origins

Elm Tree Early Learning Centre shares its origins with the Historic Elms Station located on Mission Street, in Tauranga’s CBD.

At the spectacular site overlooking the entrance to Tauranga harbour, beautiful gardens were planted, mixing native and exotic plants; oaks, elms & English roses interspersed with Rimu, Totara, Miro, and Kauri.

In the 1800’s, it was a place of learning, community and industry for local Maori. They learnt how to read & write, how to care for babies & young children and how to grow & prepare food for their families.

Our New Centre

Completed in October 2016, our Centre carries on these traditions as we teach our children about our community, our family and ourselves.

We celebrate diversity and the different traditions that enrich us. We cherish the uniqueness of every child and support them to grow up embracing their identity while appreciating the uniqueness of those around them.
